CHRIS THE SUPERVISOR
CHRIS A. MATTHEWS, LMFT-S, LCAS
AAMFT-Approved Clinical Supervisor
Clinical Supervision for Clinicians Who Want to Practice With Confidence and Purpose
Clinical supervision with Chris is structured, direct, and growth-focused. This is not passive hour-signing or theoretical discussion detached from real work in the room. Chris works with developing clinicians who want to think systemically, strengthen clinical judgment, and build confidence in couples and relationship work. Supervision is designed to help you develop skill, clarity, and leadership as a clinician, while meeting North Carolina licensure requirements and professional standards. Fit matters, and the goal is not just competence, but long-term integrity and sustainability in your work.
THE DIFFERENCE WITH CHRIS
Most clinical supervision focuses on oversight. My work focuses on development. Clinicians who work with me gain:
-
Clear clinical direction instead of uncertainty
-
Stronger case conceptualization and systemic thinking
-
Increased confidence in the room, especially with couples and families
-
Practical structure for sessions, not just theory
-
Leadership skills that support ethical, sustainable practice
This supervision is not passive or checkbox-driven. It is intentional, honest, and skill-focused. Growth happens because the work is structured, feedback is direct, and accountability is built into the process. The goal is not just to complete hours, but to become a clinician who can think clearly, lead responsibly, and practice with confidence.
GETTING STARTED WITH CHRIS
All prospective supervisees begin with an initial consultation. This first conversation is designed to ensure that supervision is a strong professional fit and that expectations are clear on both sides. During the consultation, Chris reviews licensure requirements, clarifies supervision goals, and discusses structure, availability, and supervision format. This is also an opportunity to ask questions and gain a clear understanding of how supervision works in practice.

Supervision is not a transactional arrangement, it is a professional relationship built on trust, accountability, and growth. Fit matters. The goal is to create a supervision experience that supports your development as a clinician while meeting ethical, licensure, and professional standards.
